Stream of Consciousness

I’m curious about how the phenomenon of doors being opened for women started. Not that I’m complaining or saying it should stop, it’s very charming when a guy pauses to open a door for me. Still, I’m curious who first looked at a door, then looked at a woman, and thought, “Gee, she seems to weak to handle this door - I should open it for her.”
